Recent Activity on Connect - Mar. 12, 2012

There's been a lot happening on Connect recently! A new Entomologist position has been announced at the Zoological Research Museum A. Koenig in Bonn, Germany. There is also a new forum for adding FISH-BOL relevant publications, and don't forget to check out the Third European Conference for the Barcode of Life, coming up in September 2012.

  • Md. Danesh Miah is involved in the analysis of barcode data and science policy related to barcoding at the Institute of Forestry and Environmental Sciences, University of Chittagong
  • Dr. Catherine V Nnamani is a plant taxonomist, Biosystematics, Palynologist and lecturer at Ebonyi State University Abakaliki in Nigeria
  • Francesco Nugnes is involved with studying the Anagrus species at Università Federico II NApoli
  • Benjamín Ortiz Rivas is a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Valéncia where he is researching the molecular basis of reproductive polyphenism and circadian rhythms in aphids
  • Mohamman Al-Deeb is involved in both the Mosquito Barcoding Initiative and the Tephritid Barcoding Initiative at UAE University
  • Rosanne Healy is a doctoral student at the University of Minnesota, whose current work involves A revision of the truffle genus Pachyphloeus, using barcodes to identify asexual ectomycorrhizal ascomycetes, and field work and sequencing of truffles and false truffles
  • Stephane Riviere is based in Cambridge, United Kingdom, and is interested in FISH-BOL, All Birds Barcoding Initiative, TreeBOL, Marine Barcode of Life (MarBOL), DNA Barcoding Initiative for Conservation, Plant Working Group, and the Data Analysis Working Group
  • Mohamed Enan is researching MatK and landplant at UAE university
  • Mili Bhargava is interested in the Plant Working Group and is working at CIMAP (CSIR)
  • Sadia Malik is a doctoral student at NUST, and is interested in WG1.2 Land Plants
  • Peter Jabbour is a student at Code Academy and is involved with management of barcode data, analysis of barcode data, using barcode data for other applications and organizing/managing barcoding projects
  • Yuanmeng Miles Zhang is a Masters student at Laurentian University and is currently working on barcoding of eurytomids (Hymenoptera, Eurytomidae) associated with Diplolepis (Hymenoptera, Cynipidae) in Canada
  • Yessi Santika works at the Herbarium Bogoriense, Research Center for Biologi - LIPI and is involved in the DNA Barcoding Initiative for Conservation and the Plant Working Group
  • Andrew Joseph Ruiz is an Assistant Professor involved in WG1.4 Human Pathogens and Zoonoses at Chittagong Veterinary and Animal Sciences University
  • Md. Mizanur Rahman is a lecturer at the Department of Zoology, University of Dhaka, and is involved with FISH-BOL
  • Kathelyn Paredes is a researcher at Gabriel Rene Moreno University
  • Liang Lu is involved with the barcoding of animals that host plagues, such as rodents, at the National Institute for Communicable Disease Control and Prevention, China CDC
  • Joong-Ki Park is involved with MarBol at Chungbuk National University
  • Melanie Schori is a postdoctoral fellow at Ohio University, U.S.A., where she is barcoding medicinal plans of Pakistan
  • Sona Jain is a postdoctoral fellow at UFS

  • Fernanda Silva is an undergraduate student involved in management and analysis of barcode data, asing barcode data in taxonomy/systematic biology and science policy related to barcoding at UEMA
  • Daiane Mascimento is an undergraduate student involved in the DNA Barcoding Initiative for Conservation and the Plant Working Group at CESC/UEMA
  • Le Ngoc Trieu is working on taxonomy in genus Panax at the Centre for Application nuclear technique
  • Cristina Pardo Carabias is a doctoral student at University of A Coruña, currently researching Corallinaceae, maerl-NE Atlantic
  • Sean Smith is a consultant at The Australian Institute for Commercialisation
  • Ze-Qing Niu is a researcher/faculty member at the Institute of Zoology, CAS
  • Satendra Kumar is currently working on collection and DNA isolation from feces/stool of endangered Species at the Department of Zoology and Genomics, Haryana, India
  • Aneesh Nair is involved in the plant working group at Biozone Research Technologies
  • Dr. Prakash S. Lohar is Senator at North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon MS India, and is currently working on the collection of fresh water fish from wetlands of North Maharashtra and processing it for DNA barcoding at MGSM ASC College CHOPDA Dist Jalgaon
