I’m involved in or interested in the following iBOL Working Groups
I’m involved in the following aspects of barcoding:
Fieldwork/specimen collecting, Museum work/specimen curation, Labwork/generating barcode sequences, Management of barcode data, Analysis of barcode data, Using barcode data in taxonomy/systematic biology, Using barcode data for other applications, Organizing/managing barcoding projects, Science policy related to barcoding
Current Project(s)
This project aims to improve the taxonomic inventory of zooplankton in South Australian drinking water reservoirs through the integration of morphological and genetic approaches. Better understanding of the structure and functioning of zooplankton communities in reservoirs will support informed conservation of aquatic biodiversity in South Australia and will lead to future studies on ecological genomics and population dynamics of zooplankton. Outcomes of this research will be documented in a web-based zooplankton database incorporating the latest techniques in image capture, using syncroscopy, and genetic bar-coding, using the COI gene.
PCR optimisation is being a major focus, as Folmer primer(s) dont work for all the species.
Sharing knowledge and idea would be very helpful for this.
