Isolation of DNA and PCR amplification of single thrips with COI

hello all...I am doing DNA isolation from single thrips and wanted to do COI amplification. but constantly I failed to get amplification.I am using protease K treatment to isolate DNA and using crude extract for the PCR. but there is no amplification.I have used many more buffer systems but neither gave constant results.please suggest me any solution to get out of this problem. I found there is problem with crushing such a small insect. I'm sorry, I don't have the protocol anymore, it was a while ago :(. And yes the cells were preserved in 100% ethanol.

I once used Chelex beads to extract DNA from 10 cells, and read an article where DNA was obtained from a single cell using the same product. You could try with that.
