DNA extraction from herbarium samples
Can anybody suggest me a good protocol for gDNA isolation from herbarium samples which are 50-75 yrs old and specimen were were chemically treated with HgCl2

Hi Sribash: this is going to be very difficult he DNA is likely to be very degraded as the specimens are old and they were treated with Hg. I think that Qiagen make some kits than are supposed to help with difficult samples like these (they were designed for forensics) that you might try, but i have not tried them myself. good luck! Gill
