Yes, Of course, you can!

You'd however need to know exactly what DNA barcoding accomplishes and its comparative advantage as a modal currency of relating individual specimens to their morphometric homolgues.

I'd like to invite you to also join NIGERBOL where resources from the DNA barcoding community in Nigeria is shared.

Thanks
How do i join.
am interested in grabing every information on the use of bar coding as a tool for taxonomyclassification/descriminating these fishes
You can easily join NIGERBOL on this same connect.barcodeoflife.network which links Nigerian Scientists already involved in DNA barcoding activities of plants and animal organisms for easier communications. I am available on 08037079802 and also at the Fish Tech. & Biotechnology Dept. of the Nigerian Institute for Oceanography & Marine Research, Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria.

Let us know which freshwater species or experimental groups and taxa you are now working on.

Cheers!
Tilapia species of the middle belt (North Central states)
Dear Chado,

There are several confirmed species of the Oreochromis spp. taxa in the North Central parts of Nigeria including Niger and Kogi States which I suspect you may be referring to. However, DNA barcode is to reduce the level of conjecture and specify probable identification of a query sample. If you can properly collect and preserve your samples, you may send them to me at the Fish Technology and Biotechnology Dept. of the Nigerian Institute for Oceanography & Marine Research, Lagos, Nigeria for barcode processing.
Now a member of NIGERBOL, thanx 4 accepting me. I can nowhaer from u from both sides. MANZOOR.
I will be working on 6 Cichlid Genera, of 9 species (of the North Central states of Nigeria).
Dear Chado,

Please, let me know these 6 Cichlids genera and species you intend to work on, the prospects and challenges facing you on them so that I can assist you with directions and literature materials, as well.

Sorry for the delay in approving your NIGERBOL membership. Kindly reach me with your suggestions on how to improve our activities. Visit http://www.dnabarcoding.ca/ for helpful information, too.

Cheers,

AKINWALE, M-M.A.
The genera and species expected to be in the region are;
I. Chromidontilapia (1. C.guntheri),
II. Hemichromis (2. H. fasciatus, 3. H. biloculatus),
III. Tilapia (4. T. digeti, 5. T. zilli),
IV. Oreochromis (6. O. niloticus, 7. O. aureus),
V. Sarotherodon (8.S. galilaeus) and
VI. Gobiocichla (9. G. wonderi)
Tnx
There may be other species but they will be discovered during the field work.
