Michelle is a lecturer and researcher in the Department of Botany and Plant Biotechnology at the University of Johannesburg, South Africa where she is head of the African Centre for DNA Barcoding (ACDB). She is the Tree-BOL representative in Africa and is part of the CBOL’s Plant Working Group.
Description: The webinar will focused on all-taxon biodiversity inventories, using the Toyota Enviro Outreach as an example (www.toyotaoutreach.com). The presentation will cover the steps from applying for collection permits, preparation for the fieldwork, and collection of the samples, to processing of the samples for barcoding purposes. Additionally, various projects at ACDB (www.acdb.co.za) will be discussed sharing the experience of the group with the rest of the barcoding community.
